Training & Behavior Manager (Full Time)
The Baltimore Humane Society (BHS), located in Reisterstown, MD, is seeking an experienced animal trainer to fulfill the role of Training & Behavior Manager. This is a full-time position to start in January 2014.
The ideal candidate will have two to three years working with animals in a shelter or similar animal facility in a handling or behavior capacity using positive reinforcement methods, animal training and behavior knowledge to include theory of positive reinforcement and animal training techniques, excellent customer service skills, the ability to exercise critical thinking in making judgements, ability to function in a highly emotional, rapidly changing and detail oriented environment, in which exists the possibility of euthanasia, and the ability to work collaboratively and serve as an effective liaison with other departments.
Other desired certification and knowledge includes, but is not limited to: SAFER certification, CPDT certification, CGC evaluator, CLASS evaluator, PetPoint, and Match Up II.
Must have reliable transportation, and be physically able to complete the duties assigned.
HOURS: Tuesday-Saturday 9:30am-6pm

Adoption Counselor & Shelter Greeter (Full Time)
This position is responsible for welcoming visitors to the shelter, guiding the public through the adoption process, as well as educating on the services BHS provides and offering them assistance on basic animal care in person or over the phone. ACs process applications, complete adoptions, and assist in the surrendering of pets. ACs must be proficient in Microsoft Word, internet research, and able to handle multiple phone lines. This position requires excellent customer service skills both in person and by phone and email; and a willingness to help, educate, and facilitate a positive adoption experience.
Requirements: Age 18+, friendly and positive can-do attitude, excellent customer service skills, must have your own transportation, be able to lift at least 25lbs., be able to prioritize, multi task, and work independently, and of course, must love animals! Must have prior customer service experience.
HOURS: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday 9am-5:30 or 6:00pm; Monday 9-4
