Autos for Pets! Print E-mail

There are a lot of ways you can help the Humane Society, like donating your car to us! That's right, individuals seeking to contribute to the Humane Society AND sell a car may donate the car to us for a tax break based on the value of the car. We accept any vehicle in any condition as long as it meet the following requirements:

  • It is free and clear of any liens...
  • It has four tires...
  • It has an engine attached...

The process of donating a car to the Humane Society is a snap! First, give us a call at 410-833-8848 x 217 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to email our Auto Donations Coordinator. We'll ask for just a bit of information including the vehicles VIN number, title number, mileage and your social security number (for tax purposes only). Soon after, you'll be contacted by a towing company to schedule pick up.

It's not required that you be present when the vehicle is picked up, however the title and the keys must be left in the vehicle. Also, and this is important, you must remove the tags before the vehicle is taken. The pick up driver can not do this for you. Oh, and you may want to clear the car of any personal belongings.

Once the vehicle is sold, a tax receipt will be mailed to you. I minimum of a $500 deduction amount will be given. Anything over and above $500 that the vehicle sells for, the actual dollar amount may be used.
