At the Humane Society, we know that all pets are created equal, but we realize that some pets require a little more to find them a suitable home. That's why we've created our Outreach Services and have dedicated extra resources to ensure that suitable placement is found for all of our pets. It's just part of our adoption guarantee.

How does it work? Simple! Our Outreach Services target three main areas that strengthen our ability to save lives; foster care, transport services, and 'hard to place pet' outreach.

Hard to Place Pets

Let's face it, some pets are more difficult to adopt than others. Maybe they're older, or seemingly not as cute as another. For whatever reason, they rest in our animal center while good homes pass them by. So, we're going the extra mile for them. Our outreach services focus on identifying the 'hard to place' pets that come to us and matching them with a suitable environment. And we do this by leveraging you! Individuals interested in helping our hard to place pets start by following our Humane Outreach on Twitter... we tweet info and you retweet it to your network, which helps us spread the word about some great pets needing great homes! Simple!

Foster Care

There's nothing quite like fostering pets. Whether cats or dogs, old or young, fostering a pet is a rewarding experience that helps the Humane Society while providing an ideal environment for a wonderful 'shelter pet'. Foster homes are very special to the Humane Society... it takes only a big heart and a little bit of time to make all the difference to a pet.

Transport Services

We have a very simple approach to saving lives at the Humane Society. To us, a life is a life is a life. Whether it comes from a local shelter or one located out of state, we reach out to help out. We partner with other animal welfare organizations to transport pets into and out of the Humane Society in order to maximize their chance of finding a forever home.
