Just like everything, there are few guidelines that each participant must adhere to. We don't set these out to be difficult, just to protect you and to protect the Humane Society. We think they make pretty obvious sense.
- Individuals and their pets must be accompanied by a staff member at all times while visiting the Humane Society.
- The Humane Society of Baltimore County shall not be liable for any injury or damage caused accidentally or by any animal on the Humane Society’s property.
- Owners are solely liable for injuries or damage caused by their dog(s). The owner of any dog is liable for damages suffered by anyone who is bitten by the dog while in a public place.
- Report all animal bites (regardless of severity) to a staff member of the Humane Society immediately before leaving the event or the Humane Society’s property.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times while on the property of the Humane Society of Baltimore County (including the parking area, around the buildings and in the memorial park).
- The Humane Society of Baltimore County is a non-smoking facility.
- Children of under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied and monitored closely by a parent or guardian.
- Food and drinks in glass containers are prohibited; training treats are allowed.
- You're responsible for your dog's business... so bring poop bags!
- Dogs that are overtly intolerant of humans and/or other dogs are not allowed on the Humane Society’s property. Dogs exhibiting unusually aggressive behavior will be removed from the property at once. If a dog, person or activity is annoying or provoking any other dogs or people, the responsible adult handler must remove the dog from the property.
- Dogs wearing a spiked, choke and/or pronged collars are prohibited.
- Dog leashes of a maximum length of 6 feet are required and no retractable leashes are allowed.
- Female dogs in any stage of heat are not permitted.
- Handlers must prevent dogs from digging or causing other damage. Owners are required to fill holes and/or repair damage caused by their dog.
- All dogs must have a rabies tag and personalized I.D. tag affixed to the collar and should be healthy and free from contagious diseases and parasites. A rabies vaccination certificate is required.
- For the health and safety of your puppy, no dogs under the age of four months are allowed to use this facility.
- All dogs over the age of four months shall be fully vaccinated (DHPP, bordetella, and rabies).
- Dogs with communicable diseases are not allowed on park premises at any time. Dogs with a skin condition will require veterinary certification that the dog is not contagious.
- No more than two dogs per person. When circumstances dictate, the Humane Society of Baltimore County may limit the number of dogs for that event or permanently for a particular patron.
- The Humane Society of Baltimore County maintains the right to exclude any dog from the event/property that appears to have any behavior or health condition which would compromise the health of other dogs on the property.
